Last Thursday, December 8th, we were informed by a home owner that his backyard was flooding. A plumber told him the leak was on our grounds. We began searching for the location of the leak. We knew there were no golf course irrigation pipes where the leak was surfacing. The only possibility was that the pond was leaking through the pipe that holds the electrical wires that run the fountain.
We took all the necessary safety precautions by contacting the city and having them locate all the underground wires. In order to get the water to stop immediately, we dug up the pipe containing the wires, cut the pipe and the wires, and capped the line. This was a temporary fix. Over several days my assistant pumped the water from the pond, taking extra care to protect the fish that live in the pond. A electrician then came out and sealed the pipe containing the electrical wires that was leaking.
This is the temporary fix.
